Easter in Roanoke

We got to Roanoke on Friday evening in time to enjoy dinner with our cousins Phil & Kristi and their "big kid" Aidan. He is 5 years old and enjoyed playing with Patrick. GranT and Papa were there also so we decided to announce that Patrick will be a big brother in October. Everyone was surprised but excited.

On Saturday morning Patrick received an Easter basket from GranT and Papa that consisted of several of Patrick's favorite things like balls, Elmo, chocolate, and Easter Eggs that looked like footballs, soccer balls, and baseballs. Later that morning, we went to HVCC for a kid's Easter Egg hunt, Easter crafts, and lunch. Patrick wasn't quite sure how to hunt for Easter Eggs, and he was placed into the 0-4 age group. The older kids started running all over the hill and devouring the eggs. Patrick caught on quickly and managed to secure about 12 eggs (with some help from Mommy, Daddy, GranT, and Papa). He loved putting eggs into his basket and watching the big kids do the same. After the Easter Egg hunt, we did some Easter crafts, ate lunch, and met the Easter Bunny. Patrick was less enthused about meeting the Easter Bunny.

On Sunday morning, Patrick opened his Easter basket.
The Easter Bunny knew exactly what Patrick wanted:
Thomas the Train items, books, balls, and a "baaoon".

We also re-created the previous day's Easter Egg hunt but without the 50 other "big kids" this time.

After only lasting through the first song at church before being whisked to the nursery, we went back to HVCC for Easter brunch. The Easter Bunny made another appearance, and Patrick enjoyed watching the Easter Bunny work the room until he managed to sneak up on him. Patrick lunged for his daddy and had to be soothed with yet another cupcake...the third cupcake of the weekend.
